Winter

Oil on Linen, 24" x 24"

Within a framework of an allegory of the seasons, the four paintings Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter represent the cycle of life, and the Lucumí belief of learning about oneself and the world before transcending.

Part of her allegory of the seasons series, Rosales presents Winter as an ethereal figure, her albinism connecting to the ashen wintry months. Winter closes her eyes, for in this period, she succumbs to the last stages of the cycle of life, leaving behind a legacy of a life fully lived.
